LPG + AIR mixing plants (SNG)

Mixing plants

It becomes even easier for energy-intensive industries with fears of new price increases or limits on #METHANE supply to have a BACK UP LPG + air (SNG) system.

#COTRAKO is now the EXCLUSIVE distributor in Italy of innovative LPG + AIR mixing systems with #UETSCO technology.

COTRAKO has years of experience in supplying such systems. In fact, the coming months will see us busy with the first installations at some locations of important national companies.

These are SNG plants with capacities from 400 to 5000 kg/h of LPG.

Look to the future with confidence

Can LPG be used in natural gas appliances?

No, because when attempting to fuel an industrial equipment designed to run on natural gas with LPG, the air-fuel mixture will not reach the required values and complete combustion will not verifify. Incompletely burned LPG will cause the release of highly toxic carbon monoxide and the formation of soot.

What is natural gas backup system with SNG?

LPG/Air Mixer OR Propane/Air Mixer or also known as SNG (synthetic natural gas) system is a system that creates a gas with almost the same properties as natural gas and thus provides an ideal alternative to it.

Liquid LPG or Propane is converted to gas and mixed with air in a preset ratio. The resulting mixture is directly compatible with Natural Gas and can replace it in almost any application without making any modifications to existing equipment. Such systems can also be connected directly to Natural Gas pipelines. This simplifies the operation of combustion devices without modificating their settings, prevents time-consuming and costly transitions, and ensures an uninterrupted energy supply.

What is the purpose of the LPG/air mixer?

The creation of SNG in natural gas backup systems is done in the LPG/Air Mixer unit. To obtain an alternative fuel to natural gas, LPG and air must be mixed in the right proportions. The correct LPG-air mixing ratio is obtained by noting a value close to the Wobbe index of the natural gas used by the customer.

What modules does the SNG backup system consist of?

SNG backup systems consist of 4 main modules:

  1. LPG pump
The transfer pump is used to send liquid fuel from the tank to the vaporizer.
  2. Vaporizer
Vaporizers return liquid fuel to the gas phase. To provide the required heat energy during the phase change, there are various types of vaporizers, such as the water type and the electric type.
  3. Air compressor
The air compressor provides the dry air required by the system at the desired pressure.
  4. LPG/Air Mixer
The LPG/air mixer module produces SNG, which can be used as a substitute for natural gas by mixing gaseous LPG and air in the right proportions.

Benefits of the SNG backup system

  • It provides uninterrupted energy supply to the strategic point and helps the customer avoid costly production interruptions.
  • Freedom in terms of energy supply.
  • Quick installation and little maintenance required.
  • No need to change settings in most control devices.
  • LPG, which is an alternative energy source, is easy to supply and store.
  • Safe, thanks to the built-in automation system that cuts off the gas flow in case of emergency situations.
  • Stable calorific value.
  • Allows the customer to manage fuel cost by monitoring natural gas and LPG prices.
  • The price fluctuates frequently through the years, and using SNG can generate large savings.
